Second Interdisciplinary Symposium on Public Procurement

The Faculty of Business Administration of the Corvinus University of Budapest and the Faculty of Economics of the University of Rome Tor Vergata announce the launch of the 2nd Interdisciplinary Symposium on Public Procurement.

The 2nd edition will take place in Budapest (Hungary) on 22-23 September 2014 in the main building of Corvinus University, in the very heart of the capital of Hungary.

The aim of the Symposium is to bring together economists and lawyers in the field of public procurement through dialogue and discourse. The organizers have the ambition of reducing the terminology barrier between economists ad lawyers as well as coming across cultural divide while reaching joint wider understanding of practical issues. The Symposium attempts also to suggest reform measures for better rules of acquisition for Public Administrations. While topics and references will certainly involve the European Union environment it shall not be limited to this area, taking advantage of best practices worldwide.

EcoProcura 2014

Sustainability, innovation and cost efficiency: taking procurement forward

Ghent, Belgium

The EcoProcura 2014 conference will be held in Ghent (Belgium) on 24 - 26 September 2014. Targeted to procurers from all levels of government, policy-makers, business, suppliers, manufacturers, multipliers and representatives from the European Commission and European Parliament, the conference will have the theme of examining sustainable public procurement from the perspective of cost-efficiency.

The conference will fully explore this theme through examining the cost-efficient use of public money through procurement, the development of integrated sustainable public procurement strategies, implementing the new European Public Procurement Directives and asking how public procurement can stimulate innovation.

EcoProcura is the ninth edition of the successful EcoProcura conference series. An interactive conference programme will ensure that ideas, experiences, guidelines and opinions are shared throughout. The conference will offer plenty of opportunities for good practice exchange, dialogues between business and the public sector and finding out about the latest initiatives and projects. There will also be a 'meet the buyers' event and several short training sessions.

Innovation-oriented public procurement in North Rhine-Westphalia

Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany

An event exploring pre-commercial procurement (PCP) and public procurement of innovative products and services (PPI) in the framework of the EU's Horizon 2020 programme will take place in Mülheim an der Ruhr (Germany) from 10.00 - 14.30 on 29 September 2014.

The discussion will be followed by an experience report on an EU PCP project carried out in the field of telemedicine, the first of its kind in North Rhine-Westphalia.

A workshop will be held in the afternoon, which will identify common requirements for the purchase or development of innovative solutions.
