PPI4Waste Meet the Market Event

Promotion of PPI for waste treatment in Croatia

Zagreb, Croatia

PPI4Waste will organise a Meet the Market event in Zagreb (Croatia) on 5 April 2016. The event is aimed at public procurers, experts in waste treatment, local authorities and academic institutions, and aims to develop discussion between procurers and suppliers of innovative waste treatment solutions.

Participants will hear from several expert panels on different topics during the day-long event. Topics include the regulatory environment and its implications for the circular economy, technologies for collection and treatment of local government waste, and the potential of waste treatment for resource efficiency.

iNSPiRe Study Visit for Procurers

Ludwigsburg, Germany

The iNSPiRe project is running a study visit of a sustainably renovated building in Ludwigsburg (Germany) on 14 April 2016. Participants will be able to see the latest innovations on the market first hand and get an insight into the process of renovating publicly-owned buildings.

The study visit will demonstrate how the renovation packages developed by iNSPiRe are capable of reducing the primary energy consumption of a building to lower than 50 kWh/m2/year. The Ludwigsburg building has been converted into a nearly-zero energy building with minimal disruption to residents.

Participation in the event is free of charge, but early registration is required as places are limited. Participants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation arrangements. A limited amount of funding is available to support attendance.

Low-Carbon Procurement in Practice

Brussels, Belgium

The EU-funded GPP 2020 project will hold its final conference on 19 April 2016 in Brussels (Belgium). Through the new tenders implemented by the project's purchasing partners, the project has saved 250,000 tonnes of of carbon dioxide. Procurers from European local authorities are encouraged to attend and learn from the project's experiences.

The free event will look back on the project's activities over the past three years and reflect on the capacity for low-carbon public procurement to make a dramatic reduction on Europe's carbon emissions. GPP2020 partners will present their ideas and achievements in procuring supplies, services, and contracting.

Participants will be able to learn from these experiences through a market format. The first round of the market will be split into different aspects of low-carbon public procurement, such as calculating energy savings and tender models for replication. The second round will look at GPP 2020 experiences in Austria, Croatia, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain.

Circular Procurement: the next step

Amsterdam, Netherlands

From 20-22 April 2016 the Dutch Government, Rijkswaterstaat, will host an international congress named 'Circular Procurement: the next step' in Amsterdam (the Netherlands). The congress will bring together policy makers and practitioners from all levels within the public sector with suppliers and representatives from around the world. Participation in the event is free.

The congress is organised in collaboration with the UNEP Programme on Sustainable Public Procurement and ICLEI, as well as the EU projects REBUS, SPP Regions, GPP2020 and the Dutch Green Deal Circular Procurement. It aims to promote international cooperation through concrete action, by demonstrating the powerful link between sustainable procurement and the path towards a more circular economy.

The event will include workshops workshops on circular indicators, monitoring, and business models; group discussions on circular procurement and next steps for implementation; and networking opportunities including a dinner and tour of Amsterdam's canals.

PPI4Waste International Workshop on Innovative Waste Solutions

Bilbao, Spain

The PPI4Waste State of the Art workshop will take place on 26 April 2016 in Bilbao (Spain). The event bring together public procurers, suppliers and consultants in the field of waste management from all over Europe to discuss procurement needs and showcase state of the art solutions for specific areas of waste management.

The event will feature a number of different sessions, including opportunities for public procurers and international suppliers to speak about their procurement needs, upcoming tenders and state of the air solutions that are already available.

Additionally, a series of roundtables focussing on issues such as bulky waste collection and management, plastic separation, and bio-waste collection will give procurers and suppliers the opportunity to discuss these issues directly with one another. Participation in the workshop is free of charge, but registration is required. The event includes a coffee break and networking drink.
