The European Commission will hold the fifth annual conference on innovative public procurement in Berlin (Germany) on 26 October 2016 to discuss how public procurement can strategically boost innovation in the EU and thereby enhance competitiveness and growth. The new procurement directives reflect the need to use procurement as a means to meet diverse policy objectives, and to harness public demand as a driving force to develop new products and services.
Reform of public procurement processes to make them leaner, simpler and more user-friendly is also on the conference agenda. This discussion will look at how the implementation of the new procurement directives can be used as an opportunity to reorganise public procurement in Member States and provide better value for money.
The conference programme will run from 9.00 to 17.00. Those who wish to attend this free event must express their interest by 25 September 2016 by filling out the online registration form. Simultaneous interpretation will be provided between English and German.
